What is the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor?
Do I have pelvic floor pain? Everyone has a pelvic floor ! According to the National Health and Nutritional Exam Survey, 1 in 3 US women reported at least one pelvic floor disorder in the last decade. These dysfunctions can be both debilitating and embarrassing. With increasing awareness and education, conservative treatment can help alleviate pelvic floor dysfunction, including urinary incontinence, organ prolapse and sexual dysfunction. Plan your assessment to see how the pelvic floor can help you !
Like other muscles, the pelvic floor may be weak, overactive, uncoordinated or have trigger points. Treatment may include myofascial release, reinforcement, down training techniques, motor control and biomechanical training. Biofeedback is a tool that we can use to retrain the muscles and motor control remember that the pelvic floor may be weak, but also overactive !
