Most ankle and foot pain experienced at Bergenfield Physical Therapy is due to poor foot and/or trauma resistance structures. Lack of proper function and low stability in many cases cause injuries to the muscles and ankle joints and then affect the foot. At Bergenfield Physical Therapy, we offer non-surgical options to effectively and safely overcome ankle and leg pain. You will receive an individualized treatment plan that aims to bring you back to the level of activity and lifestyle you are accustomed to without dealing with pain. We'll show you how to get rid of pain, correct the cause, and eliminate the symptoms.

The Bergenfield Physical Therapy provides a special, individualized, and comprehensive approach that identifies the exact cause of the pain and treats it as such.

SYMPTONS

The pain in the foot and ankle will depend on the area and structures that are stimulated and affect the brain, causing fire absorption in a specific area. At Bergenfield Physical Therapy, we believe that ankle and foot pain is due to a lack of function. Most foot conditions include joints and corresponding soft tissues.

CAUSES

There are many different causes of pain in the ankles and feet. One of the main factors may be a structural tendency and low stability, resulting in faulty biological mechanisms. All three factors help determine control of the leg and ankle motor. There are many scenarios where leg and ankle pain are linked to the knees and thighs through the function of the lower motive chain. Other reasons include, but are not limited to:

  • Developmental dysfunctions
  • Developmental imbalance with muscles
  • Muscular strains
  • Ligamentous sprains
  • Poor motor engram functionality
  • Trauma
  • Poor posture

DIAGNOSIS

At Bergenfield Physical Therapy, a doctor will start a comprehensive functional examination, which will address the onset, cause, time, severity, and reasonable tasks and functional tasks that cause pain. The topic of this point, however, in severe cases, requires diagnostic radiography or MRI.

DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:

Heel pain, plantar fasciitis, runners’ heel, ankle sprain, ankle instability, achilles tendonitis, shin splints, bulk and internal arch pain, flat feet, tunnel disorder.

TREATMENT

At Bergenfield Physical Therapy, we have extensive experience in treating foot and ankle disorders. Based on our functional assessment, we create an individual treatment plan. The treatment options may vary depending on the type and severity of leg and ankle pain, as well as structures and muscles and joints.

Treatment will be a combination of specific physical therapy of the feet and exercise for the stability of the lower feet and exercises with the lower motivational sequence. We use our expertise in manual medicine and rehabilitation to support stability and control of feet and ankles. This approach is much more effective in correcting the issue and injecting steroids only covers but does not solve the cause of pain. Foot and ankle pain will counteract changes in gait, the stability of the foot, and weight transfer of ground forces while walking and running. The rehabilitation program aims to make the foot painless, increase the range of motion, increase stability, and strengthen the inner muscles to reduce the cause of leg and ankle pain.
